Key objectives– Project to replace Package units in stages on the existing rooftop mounting platforms. The mall has undertaken to replace a unit each year until all 15 units are replaced.
Complex hurdles– The units had to be broken down in smaller components due to the weight of the units exceeding the lifting capacity of the helicopter. After placement, the units were reassembled and recommissioned.
What made it a success– The work was completed in the early hours of the morning to cause as little disruption as possible to the mall’s operations.
How RCR added value– Upgrading a 20-year-old system with discontinued refrigerant causing damage to the Ozone. The new system we’re installing is more energy-efficient and runs on current ozone-friendly refrigerant. Providing fresh clean cool air to the shops of the Queensgate mall
