Being able to identify elevated body temperature among groups of people has never been more important than during the Covid-19 pandemic. The way we conduct social events and even everyday things like domestic could very well change in the future, and thermal imaging has a role to play.

New technology from RCR gives operators a much more efficient way to check people’s body temperature. This could used to check people entering all sorts of situations, from sporting events and concerts to workplaces and especially airports. Here’s what our new thermal imaging technology is all about.

Why Not Just Use Thermometers?

Firstly, the simple fact is thermometers are cumbersome to use. Even hand-held thermal devices present an inefficient way of screening people. The process is one-by-one, meaning it takes longer and requires several staff to conduct these checks. All of that takes time and money.

Thermometers also don’t have the accuracy of thermal imaging technology, and in a time of heightened consideration about contact with others, thermometers also require staff to get up close and personal with the people being screened.

The Benefits of Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging creates a much better experience for all involved. It’s easy for operators to use and conduct screening, and it’s also much more pleasant for those being screened. But that’s not all – thermal imaging is superior in just about every way.

High Efficiency and Accuracy

With thermal imaging that can screen multiple people in an area, without the need for lining up, efficiency can be improved up to 800%. There’s less staff involvement, and simply the process is much quicker.

Accuracy is also an advantage, with a temperature measurement accuracy of +0.3°C. This is far superior than standard handheld thermometer devices.

Safe and Contactless

Thermal imaging is able to screen people from a distance. Sensors are used to do all the work, relaying information to a monitoring system which can be kept away from the public. In fact, the sensors themselves can even work from 3 metres away.

This means no staff are required to get close to passengers unnecessarily, limiting the risk of exposure to any viruses or diseases someone may carry.

Measure Up To 30 Targets Simultaneously

The sensors used in this thermal imaging process have the ability to scan and measure the temperature of up to 30 people at once. Unlike the older system where people would need to line up in order to be scanned, this equipment effectively does the work of 30 staff members.

When a higher than normal temperature is detected, an alarm is sounded immediately. This allows staff to safely ask passengers or entrants to move directly to an isolation area. Being able to identify the exact source of the higher temperature means less risk of exposure to others in the area.

Complete Thermal Imaging Platforms

We provide two different types of sensors that can be used for thermal screening, and also the 16 channel IP video access system. This allows facial recognition, thermal imaging, and your staff can stay in a safe area to monitor everything.

With these systems, you’ve got everything you need to keep areas safe and free of those who may be unwell. With the capacity to store up to 100,000 face images, this also has added benefits for security, particularly in a travel environment.
